Attendance and Cancellations
– Lessons are scheduled on a weekly basis and will end promptly at the assigned time.
– Because of a full teaching schedule, I am unable to provide makeup lessons or reschedule if a student is sick, away, or otherwise unable to attend.
– If I must cancel due to illness or an emergency, a makeup lesson will be offered at a mutually agreed-upon time.
– Planned absences (vacations, school trips, etc.) should be communicated at least two weeks in advance.

Lesson Registration and Exams
– Students must receive my approval before registering for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams. This ensures that they are fully prepared for the requirements and expectations of the level.
– Permission is required for both practical and theory exam registrations.

Tuition and Payment
– Payment is due by e-transfer or cash two days before the start of each month.
– Discounts are available for students who choose to pay by semester or for the full year.
– If you wish to withdraw from lessons, please provide two months’ written notice or one month’s tuition in lieu of notice.

Lesson Rates (Effective July 1, 2025)
– 30 minutes: $46
– 45 minutes: $66
– 60 minutes: $85
– Trial lesson (60 minutes): $92
Discounts are available for term or yearly payments.

Summer Lessons
– Consistent musical study in the summer helps maintain progress and encourages exploration of new repertoire.
– I recommend students register for at least four lessons during July and August.

Student Expectations
– Students are expected to come prepared, with all necessary books, materials, and completed assignments.
– Practice requirements:

Beginners (first 2 years): 20 minutes per day, 5 days a week. Parents are encouraged to supervise practice at this stage.
– RCM Levels 1–4: 35 minutes per day, 5 days a week.
– RCM Levels 5–8: 60 minutes per day, 5 days a week.
– Theory students must complete homework and bring all required texts to each lesson.

Studio Etiquette and Safety
– Students and family members are asked to remove their shoes before entering the studio.
– Please arrive on time. Lessons will end at the scheduled time regardless of late arrival.
– Parents must ensure children are picked up promptly at the end of lessons.

Communication
– Email is the best way to reach me. I do my best to respond promptly but please allow up to 48 hours for a reply.
– If you need to switch lesson times with another student on the same day, you are welcome to arrange this directly and let me know by email.
